This week, Samara University welcomed a delegation from the School of Aeronautics and Astronautics at Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) — one of China’s top 5 universities and ranked among the world’s top 50 institutions in the 2025 QS World University Rankings.
The visit aimed to advance discussions on the dual-degree program in Rocket Complexes and Cosmonautics, which Samara University and SJTU launched for the 2024–2025 academic year.
During their tour of Samara University’s research facilities, the Chinese delegation — accompanied by Ivan Tkachenko, Director of the Institute of Aerospace Engineering and the Advanced Aerospace Engineering School (AAES) — explored interactive educational spaces at AAES, the Interuniversity Department of Space Research, the Nanosatellite Technology Center, the Ground Control Complex for Small Spacecraft, and the Nanosatellite Testing Center.
The parties also reviewed the first-year outcomes of the joint program and outlined plans to expand collaboration and recruitment for 2025–2026. The visit included a meeting with Samara University students and a presentation about SJTU’s academic offerings.
Leadership from Samara University’s Institute of Aerospace Engineering and SJTU’s School of Aeronautics and Astronautics expressed optimism for continued productive partnership and growth in dual-degree enrollment. Information sessions and student selection for the 2026–2027 academic year will take place in fall 2025.
