A delegation from Samara University took part in the "Study in Russia" exhibition in the capital of Kazakhstan, Astana. This major educational event attracted around 3,500 participants, including school students, university applicants, parents, educators, and representatives of higher education institutions.
The delegation included public relations specialists from the Mobility and Recruitment Department: Anna Kharchistova, Roman Arutyunov, and Evelina Khasanova.
During the exhibition, attendees were introduced to Samara University’s undergraduate, specialist, and master’s programs, as well as preparatory opportunities for admission — such as participation in the International Multidisciplinary Olympiad of Samara University — and details about enrollment and academic life.
Particular interest was shown in engineering, aviation, economics, natural sciences, and international relations programs.
Notably, over 280 students from Kazakhstan are already enrolled at Samara University. Many were admitted through the Russian Government quota for foreign nationals and stateless persons, including compatriots living abroad. Kazakhstan school students also actively engage in the university’s career guidance initiatives: for example, over 100 students participated in the International Multidisciplinary Olympiad of Samara University in 2024, and more than 700 attended events during promotional tours.
“Our son chose ‘Aircraft and Helicopter Engineering’ as his major. Naturally, we first considered Russian aviation universities. Samara University has a rich history — back when it was the Kuibyshev Aviation Institute, it trained countless specialists, scientists, and engineers. Last spring, we visited Samara specifically to tour the campus, explore the museum, and learn more about the university. This year, on March 29–30, we met the university’s representatives again at the Astana exhibition. We gained valuable insights: how Olympiads work, what preparatory programs are available. Everything is very well organized. We were especially impressed by the admissions office website and the online courses on aircraft design offered on Stepik.org*. Now we’re actively preparing for entrance exams and participating in Olympiads — we’re really hoping to get in,” commented Aktai Zhanabergenovich, father of a high school student.
The delegation also visited several educational centers in Kazakhstan, including the “Intellect” Educational Center, a leading institution for supplementary education in Astana. Discussions focused on joint career guidance initiatives, applicant consultations, and expanding educational mobility opportunities.
“My father is an aviator and conducts research in Samara. So, I had no doubts when choosing the university or my major. I’m participating in the International Multidisciplinary Olympiad of Samara University and preparing for exams. To me, Samara University is a true giant of aviation science!” said Tair, an 11th-grade student at the Intellekt Educational Center.
Samara University plans to continue expanding its international presence in Central Asia, offering high-quality education, modern facilities, and broad opportunities for professional growth.

Online courses from the Department of Aircraft Design are available on the Stepik.org platform — a free educational resource featuring materials on engineering training, real-world tasks, and project work. Other Samara University courses can also be found there.
