Evgeniy Shakhmatov, Rector of Samara State Aerospace University and Evgeniy Kablov, Director General of All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Aviation Materials have signed an order on establishing a joint laboratory on corrosion, aging and biodegradation of materials and complex engineering systems based on the ARSRIM and SSAU. 
Signing of the document took place within the framework of the international exhibition “Hydroaviasalon-2014”. It should be noted that the agreement on establishment of the laboratory have been made on September 1 in the course of a personal meeting of Nikolai Merkushkin, the Head of Samara Region, with Evgeniy Kablov.
Dmitriy Rogozin, Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation, who was present at the signing of the agreement and recently headed SSAU Supervisory Board, congratulated both sides with establishment of a joint laboratory and wished fruitful and efficient operation. He noted that the unique solutions in the field of aircraft engine building can only be achieved through the use of modern materials. “Anyone who does not understand that today it is a time for a brave development of new materials, will stay in the past,” - said Dmitriy Rogozin.
Evgeniy Shakhmatov believes that this agreement will become a new form of effective interaction between the leading universities and specialized scientific and research institutes.  Thereby the strategic partnership of SSAU with such a large state scientific centre as ARSRIM provides new opportunities for successful development of the domestic aerospace industry.
“Alliances of the major research centres, enterprises and leading universities - is one of the ways to make an innovative economy competitive, including its defence component,” – mentioned Evgeniy Shakhmatov. - Our aerospace industry must rely on the advanced domestic technologies, including new generation materials. In this regard, creation of the joint laboratory will allow SSAU and ARSRIM to make a new significant step forward in this direction”.
Evgeniy Kablov noticed that creation of a joint laboratory with SSAU is an important event for ARSRIM. Signing of the document in the presence of Dmitriy Olegovich Rogozin imposes a high degree of responsibility on us, so we will fulfill all the tasks assigned to this laboratory, and the relevant scientific decisions and recommendations will be provided to the domestic industry,” - said the Head of ARSRIM.
