The Samara Region’s delegation at the World Festival of Youth and Students (WYF), which includes representatives of Samara University, took part in the strategic session on campus development, held by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation.

The strategic session “Shaping approaches to developing international campus activities” was held on March 4-6, in Sochi, at Sirius University, which became the venue for the World Festival of Youth and Students 2024 (WYF-2024).

The session program was aimed at developing strategies and practices that contribute to strengthening international collaboration in education. Representatives of the largest Russian universities, on the basis of which world-class campuses are being built, as well as foreign and Russian students, took part in the discussion.

Let us recall that in Samara, the campus will be built in the territory adjacent to the Solidarity Samara Arena stadium, in framework of the Federal Project “Construction of the Network of Modern Campuses” of the National Project “Science and Universities”.

At the session, Samara University was represented by its Rector Vladimir Bogatyrev and its Vice Rector for Campus Development Andrei Antonevich.

“Together with experts from different countries, we have worked out the issues related to positioning the international interuniversity campus for foreign students and staff. Even now, at the stage of designing and building new campuses, it is important to determine, students from which countries our educational programs will be focused on”, said Vladimir Bogatyrev. He outlined the countries, which the Samara International Interuniversity Campus is going to collaborate. These are states located in Africa, Southeast Asia, as well as Arab countries. Students from these regions will be offered educational programs in aerospace technology, IT, photonics, quantum technology and other areas of training, with doing internships at cyberphysical factories. Speaking to the participants of the strategic session, Vladimir Bogatyrev proposed to develop inter-campus tourism, so that during their holidays, foreign students could travel over Russia and get acquainted with our country’s traditions and culture.

According to Andrei Antonevich, Vice Rector for Campus Development, presentation of the federal project on creating the network of modern campuses at the WFM-2024 venue will expand understanding by students from around the world Russian educational opportunities and university infrastructure development. “We believe that foreign applicants will be interested in our offer and will come to Samara. First for training, and then for living and working in our province. Such scenarios are not uncommon even now, but, when the International Interuniversity Campus is built, interest in our region will definitely grow”, noted Andrei Antonevich.
