Today young scientists of SSAU and Institute of aircraft engines (ILA) of the University of Stuttgart are discussing the following issues: gas microturbines for unmanned aircraft systems and drone aircrafts, alternative types of aviation fuel and creating a virtual model of gas generator. The first Summer School on engine building takes place in Samara. The School is conducted by the Second Faculty in cooperation with the Council of young scientists and specialists of SSAU within the framework of International scientific and technical conference “Problems and prospects of development of engine building”.

Grigoriy Popov, postgraduate student of the Department of Theory of Aircraft Engines said: “Our Department and Faculty have long been working closely with the University of Stuttgart. SSAU postgraduates work off their developments during study placement in Germany for about ten years. Scientists from Stuttgart work on their dissertations at our Department”. Within the framework of this School, young scientists presented nine projects evaluated by Sergey Falaleev, Professor of the Department of Construction and Engineering of Flight-Type Engines and Professor Stefan Staudacher, Dean of the Faculty of Aerospace Engineering and Geodesy, Director of the Institute of aircraft engines the University of Stuttgart.

After a thorough tour of the laboratories of the SSAU Faculty of Flight-Type Engines Professor Stefan Staudacher told about his impressions from Samara university: “I liked organization of the Faculty, the knowledge it gives and scientific researchers conducted hear. Now our universities are working in cooperation to develop engines of the future. And, I think that the works presented in this School will have a direct impact on the future of aviation”. German visitor highlighted the experience of SSAU scientists in their work on virtual engine: “In particular, I was impressed by 3d-modeling of constructions and processes. You visualize calculations - this is a unique technology and it is in high demand in Europe”.

S. V. Falaleev, Professor of the Department of Construction and Engineering of Flight-Type Engines noted that the next School will be held at the University of Stuttgart: “We want to establish cooperation between young scientists, to outline ways for collaborative research. We hope that there will be joint publications in international journals. Our task is to create technologies that will be needed not only for our industry, but also abroad”.
