RESEARCH LIBRARY

The research library is the large scientific, informational, educational and cultural division of the Samara State Aerospace University. The library develops as an information core of the University. It accumulates and keeps the results of the scientific-research and pedagogical activities of its employees. Also the library gives to all categories of users the informational services as much as possible, which are based on the modern ICT and traditional library stock.

The library premises occupy 3095,6 square meters.

The library stock is unique and makes over 1 127 835 books in Russian and foreign languages. It completely opened through system of the traditional and the electronic catalogues.

The computer technologies take root into library. The automated library system develops in the research library. The informational resources are created, Internet resources and Internet technologies are accustomed by library. The scientific work is carried out and the marketing activity is developed in the library.

The subscriptions of the educational, the scientific literature and the fiction, the reading rooms of the scientific and the educational literature, the reading-hall of the periodicals, the reading room of new receipts, the department of the rare books, the information department and the inter-library exchange are served the professors, the research employees, the post-graduate students, the undergraduate students, the students of the lyceum and other categories of the readers of the University. All delivery of the books on 01.01.2009 has made 438 608 books, the number of the attendances – 240 215. 31 260 readers were served by all divisions of the University.

Since 1991 the work is underway on the application of the new technologies in the library. Since 2004 the work is underway on the basis of the automated library system “IRBIS”.

The inter-library exchange (ILE) is successfully supplemented with the electronic delivery of the documents (EDD).
